There is a version of this story that starts with a knockout. Instead, it starts with a teenager walking into a gym near his house in Palma de Mallorca, and never walking back out.
Diego Krasimirov is 22 years old, born in Palma to Bulgarian parents, and has spent roughly the last ten years of his life in boxing. He turned professional in 2023 after close to a hundred amateur fights, and trains under coach Paul Hamilton — a British trainer with more than three decades in the sport — at Fit Club Mallorca. Today, he is unbeaten as a professional, campaigning at super-welterweight with a record built fight by fight, country by country.
A Record Still Being Written
Krasimirov’s rise has been steady rather than sudden. In June 2025, fighting in front of a partisan crowd at the Frontón Bizkaia in Bilbao, he delivered a first-round knockout to capture the WBC Youth Intercontinental Super-Welterweight title — a result that left his professional record spotless and announced him as a genuine prospect beyond Spain’s borders.
He has since taken his career abroad for the first time, fighting under British promotion GBM: first in England, where he defeated Romanian opponent Octavian Gratii over six rounds, and then in Rotterdam, where he outpointed Mexican fighter Alekseyv Arellano to extend his unbeaten record further. Each fight outside Spain has been, in his own words, a deliberate step — not a detour.
Beyond Home Advantage
Ask Diego about his proudest achievement, and the WBC title in Bilbao is only part of the answer. Fighting in Spain, he says, is comfortable — familiar crowd, familiar surroundings, home advantage. That comfort is exactly what he has been trying to leave behind.
“Going into a foreign country like England and getting the win there is huge, because UK boxing is on another level, deeper competition in the pro game, and bigger opportunity. I want to make an impact worldwide, not just at home.”
The Setback That Redirected Everything
Long before any of these results, Diego faced a very different kind of disappointment. For years, representing his country at the Olympics was the goal he trained toward — a chance that never materialized, in part because he didn’t hold Spanish nationality. For a while, it felt like years of amateur boxing had led nowhere.
Turning professional gave him a different route forward — one where results, not paperwork, would decide his future. What replaced the disappointment was discipline: no nights out, no drinking, two training sessions a day, every day in camp. It’s the same discipline, he says, that took him from fighting only in Spain to fighting internationally within the space of a year.
Discipline as the Whole Strategy
There’s no mystery to how Diego prepares for a fight — early mornings, structured training blocks, proper rest, planned nutrition, and no private life while in camp. As he puts it:
“You win the fight in the gym, fight night is just where I go to collect what’s mine, what I’ve worked so hard for.”
It’s a mindset built on patience and long-term planning rather than instinct alone — the kind of approach that tends to outlast any single result.
Family, and What Comes Next
Underneath the ambition is a simpler motivation. Diego is candid that his family, and the sacrifices his parents made to give him this opportunity, matter to him more than any title. Being in a position to give back to them one day, he says, would mean more than anything else his career could bring him. The long-term goal, meanwhile, hasn’t changed since he first stepped into a gym: become a world champion.
